Members of the Science Department work closely together to plan and implement
the Science Programme which aims to raise the percentage of quality passes
from Primary 3 to Primary 6.
The Science Corner equipped with a TV and two computers, besides an aquarium, is frequented by pupils. Science video programmes are screened. The two computers loaded with Science enrichment programmes enable pupils to learn Science in a fun way. Preserved specimens are displayed in the showcases. There is a variety of reading materials on Science topics. The aquarium enables pupils to observe marine life at close quarters. The Science Garden is open to all pupils during school hours. Pupils are able to observe the growth of leafy vegetables at the hydroponics greenhouse. Different classes take turns to plant and harvest these vegetables. This activity enables pupils to care and learn about plants. The eco-pond has a variety of water plants and fishes. Together with a good range of plants and trees, the Science Garden makes a conducive environment for learning. Sufficient enrichment programmes are organised for our pupils. They attend Science enrichment lessons at the Science Centre. They also go on field trips to widen their knowledge in Science. Our pupils also participate in the Young Scientist Badge Scheme and various other programmes organised by the Singapore Science Center and the Singapore Zoological Gardens. The department also organises enrichment programmes like Science quizzes, projects and competitions on Science inventions. |
